The Netherlands Institute for Public Safety (NIPV) will begin using XVR On Scene within its training programmes for (Chief) Duty Officers. Following an extensive evaluation of the solutions available on the market, NIPV selected the software developed by XVR Simulation.
NIPV is the national knowledge institute for crisis management and fire and rescue services in the Netherlands. It supports Safety Regions, central government and other crisis response partners through research, education, information provision and practical support. Through this important role, the institute contributes to the quality of incident response and crisis management across the Netherlands.
Within the Centre for Fire Service Education and Training (COVB), XVR On Scene will be used for the education and training of (Chief) Duty Officers. Through realistic and interactive scenarios, participants can safely, flexibly and effectively practise managing complex incidents in a virtual environment.
Over the coming months, NIPV instructors and scenario developers will be trained in the use of XVR On Scene. The initial focus will be on scenario development, after which they will receive further training on the platform’s advanced functionalities. Simulation facilitators will also be trained to ensure the smooth delivery of scenarios during courses and training sessions.
Following implementation, NIPV will be able to run multiple simulation tracks simultaneously, enabling the efficient delivery of its training programmes. XVR On Scene also allows users to incorporate their own 3D objects, making it possible to tailor scenarios to the Dutch operational environment and further enhance learning outcomes.
In addition to the initial implementation, NIPV looks forward to further expanding the use of XVR On Scene within Duty Officer training. NIPV and XVR also look forward to strengthening collaboration with the Dutch XVR community to exchange knowledge and practical experience.
Edwin van de Snepscheut, Director Customer Success at XVR Simulation, is pleased with the partnership:
“We are proud that NIPV has chosen XVR On Scene. NIPV plays an important role in the education and training of fire service professionals in the Netherlands, and we look forward to supporting them in the development and delivery of Duty Officer training. We look forward to a successful collaboration and are excited to see the scenarios and training programmes they will develop with XVR.”
Eric Didderen, trainer/advisor at the Centre for Fire Service Education and Training (COVB), adds:
“COVB has been using computer simulations in education for quite some time. With XVR, we hope to further strengthen our training programmes. With this software, we expect to be even better equipped to recreate a wide variety of incidents that our students may encounter within their regions in the future.”
